Caitlin knows her Mommy

This weekend we discovered that Caitlin understands the word Mommy - Eric would have her sitting on his lap and whenever he would say "Where's your Mommy" she would look around, find me and smile! Too cute! Also this weekend I clearly heard her say "Oh Yeah"! Here is a photo of her with her new Elmo stuffed animal. It is her new favorite toy!

Caitlin's First Trip to the E.R.

Well, I suppose it had to happen eventually.

Yesterday morning I was laying down, playing with Caitlin, and she fell over while I was holding her hands. Unfortunately, that meant a dislocated left elbow. Apparently it's not uncommon for babies and there is a term for it: "Nursemaid's Elbow.". That doesn't make it any less depressing to see your 7 month old playing with her right arm while her left arm lays limp at her side.

Long story short, the doctor massaged her elbow back into place and, with a little bit of Motrin, she's back to using her left arm again. Of course she charmed everyone at the hospital. Everyone wanted to peek their head in to see the cute little baby with the boo boo. Also not surprising: Caitlin handled the pain like a champ. She screamed like a banshee when it first happened, but she was incredibly well behaved at the hospital, hardly crying at all.

Visiting the Park

Riding the Swing

This weekend was very busy. "Papa" Bagnall visited Friday and Saturday. There was lots of quality grandpa/granddaughter time. Saturday evening and today Grandma and Grandpa Brosch visited to work in some bonding time of their own. Today we went to the park and Caitlin had her first solo experience on the swings. She is changing so much so quickly, but each new development is exciting.

Trying out the Sippy Cup

This week we started introducing Caitlin to her sippy cup. She grabbed on right away and started sucking on the lip. The only problem was that she didn't tilt it to get anything out. She thought it was a straw. This will take some practice!

This rocking chair was mine when I was a little girl - I have been waiting to get a nice photo of Caitlin sitting in it. Now that she is sitting up so well we decided to have a small photo shoot yesterday. She seemed to really enjoy rocking!

Rolling Over & Misc. stuff

Sunday Caitlin rolled over from her back to her front for the first time! After some intense work that foot finally made it into her mouth Sunday as well! First she sat up and leaned forward to get it - then falling on her face! Then she layed on her back and got it in her mouth that way too! She wiggles all over the place now reaching out for things that she wants. Of course when she can't reach them she starts to fuss! She is definately developing her own little personality! Yesterday she started trying to copy noises I make with my mouth - she blew bubbles out of her mouth after I did it - to cute! Of course she is still Daddy's little girl - he gets big smiles when he comes home from work! She is infatuated with the dogs and loves to run her fingers through Reese's long fur. He is so patient with her! She also likes to pull my glasses off my face - I had to change out my hoop earrings for stems so she couldn't grab those. Also if we are not careful she tries to drink and eat our food! What a sneaky baby! She loves riding in the big girl stroller now - sitting up so straight and trying to eat the front tray. She has a bit of the sniffles right now along with a cough and a hoarse voice - the doctor says she is not contagious and should be better within a week.

Caitlin at Wal Mart

Friday was Caitlin's first experience riding in the front of the shopping cart. Up until now I have always taken her into the store either in a stroller or her carseat. Now that she is sitting up by herself at home I figured it was time to shop! I brought our little cart cover that you see in the photo. It has little toys on it to keep her occupied. She was very excited to be free to look and move around. She also loved eating the toys on the cover. Her main mission during our shopping trip was to get a grip on my shopping list and pen. She also delighted the other customers by smiling at everyone. Too much fun!
